You can do the same search with "academic writing" as the subject. Many of the books in our collection are about both "scholarly publishing" and "academic writing."

You can also search for books that deal with scholarly publication or academic writing within a certain field, such as political science or the social sciences in general. Style manuals exist for the major scholarly disciplines to help with writing.

Using RefWorks
RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic reference and citation manager. Basically it is your own personal database. You can use it to store and organize your references that you will use in writing your research paper. It stores all of the citations that you find in the GALILEO databases for you, and you can access them from any computer that has internet access.
In addition to storing and organizing your research, you can use RefWorks to cite those resources in your papers. Instead of transcribing citations manually, RefWorks will insert them automatically using Word, keep track of which resources you use, and create a separate bibliography for your paper once you have finished writing.
All UGA students can create RefWorks accounts. For more information about setting up an account and using RefWorks in your research, visit the Library's RefWorks page.
Using Writeboard
If you are working on collaborative projects, there are resources on the web that can help with making the process of multiple-author writing much smoother.

A new web application called Writeboard gives you the option of creating password-only accounts that contain text editor software.
Not only do all of the members of your group see the same screen, but you can track changes to the document and revert back to older editions if you want. Since it is web-based, you can access it anywhere you have an internet connection, without relying on disks or portable storage devices.
