"Thousands of libraries, museums, and archives have contributed nearly a
million collection descriptions to ArchiveGrid. Researchers searching
ArchiveGrid can learn about the many items in each of these
collections, contact archives to arrange a visit to examine materials,
and order copies."
- Gale Literary Index : find literary criticism.
- Infotrieve ArticleFinder : contains over 26 million citations of scientific, technical, and medical content with additional resources for business, law and the humanities.
- Kosmix : a unique search engine that finds health, travel, and political information on the web, and then sorts it by type. Very useful!
- LISTA: Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts
- Merriam-Webster Online (Dictionary and Thesaurus)
- Microsoft Live Academic Search : Beta scholarly article index, meant to eventually rival Google Scholar. Currently it covers computer science, mechanical engineering, and physics articles.
- OIAster : " index to academically-oriented "digital resources" available for free from close to 600 libraries and other organizations. These digital resources range from images at the Library of Congress to audio files, reference books such as dictionaries, articles from online journals, and electronic books. "
- PubMed : medical database built and maintained by the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
- Scrius : searches over 200 million science-specific Web pages.
